Wastewater Treatment
Wastewater Site-specific Treatment Solutions
Wastewater treatment, whether for single houses, commercial outlets or larger communities, is becoming an increasingly complex issue for local authorities and developers alike. The advent of the EU Water Framework Directive and the introduction of increasingly stringent EPA guidelines is leading to a requirement for more complex and reliable site-specific treatment solutions throughout the built environment.
EPA Percolation Tests - single houses
For one off houses TEC Ltd offer a full site characterisation service. The site assessments are carried out in full accordance with the EPA wastewater treatment manuals. TEC Ltd have an excellent track record with EPA site assessments and have a good working relationship with the Environment Sections of many Local Authorities. We are fully professionally indemnified and have carried out the GSI/EPA/FAS site assessment course. Where further information is requested in relation to site assessment data, TEC Ltd have the expertise to respond to any query raised by local authorities. Solutions can be proposed for sites with high water tables, shallow bedrock, space constraints and low permeability soils.
Large developments - Residential Commercial & Industrial
For larger scale projects such as housing developments or other similar projects, TEC Ltd offer a consultancy service to carry out wastewater characterisation studies, plant performance evaluations, process selection, outline process design, packaged plant selection, detailed treatment plant design, odour control studies/remediation and discharge licensing.
Where it is proposed to discharge large volumes of wastewater to ground, TEC Ltd can carry out detailed EPA site assessments and hydrogeological reporting and ground investigation to assess the potential impacts of the discharge on groundwater quality. Where potential pollution problems exist then suitable measures can be proposed to prevent this occurring and assist with obtaining planning permission.
Discharge license applications
Where it is proposed to discharge wastewater effluent to a watercourse then it is necessary to make an application to the local authority for a discharge license. TEC Ltd can complete and submit discharge license applications to a local authority on behalf of clients. Where information on watercourse flow and quality is required then this can be obtained and the necessary assimilative capacity calculations can be completed.
Where it is being proposed to discharge in excess of 5m3 of wastewater to ground via a percolation area from a development, it is also necessary under the Water Pollution Acts to obtain a discharge license application.
